Face swap is one of the requests I get most often by email, and the answer has changed a lot in the last twelve months. VidMage AI is one of the newer entries in the space, and it pushed itself onto my list because of one thing: it has a desktop app for Mac that does live face swap, on top of the usual photo and video flows.

If you want my one liner: VidMage is the most feature wide face swap tool I have looked at in 2026, but its NSFW posture is not loud about itself the way it is on dedicated adult tools, so plan around that.

What VidMage AI Actually Does

VidMage is a face swap tool that runs across four jobs:

Photo face swap. Single image, single face, takes seconds.
Video face swap. Upload a clip, the face gets replaced frame by frame.
GIF face swap. Same idea as video, scoped to short loops.
Live face swap on Mac. A desktop app that swaps your face in real time on your webcam feed, useful for streaming and video calls.

On top of that, the site lists batch processing, head swap (the full head, not just the face), and a set of side tools like video upscaling, object removal and AI clothes changing.

If you only need one of these, a dedicated tool will probably do it better. If you need most of them inside one account with one billing line, VidMage is the closest thing to a multi tool I have seen on the face swap side.

The Flow, Step by Step

The web flow is short. Here is what it looks like when you land:

Open vidmage.ai. The home page leads with a face swap demo and a “Try Free” button.
Sign up. Email plus password is the path I expect to use. There is a clear login button in the top right.
Upload your source face. This is the face you want to put into the target media.
Upload the target. A photo, a video clip or a GIF.
Run the swap. Seconds for a photo, longer for a video depending on length.
Download the result. Watermarked on free, clean on paid.

For the Mac live mode, you install the desktop app, give it webcam permission, load a source face and turn the swap on. It does not need an upload, it works on the live camera stream.

What I Saw on the Site (First Look)

I want to be transparent about scope: this is a landing page and pricing page review for now. The output examples and the side by side image comparisons go in once I run my own files through.

The notes I took on the site:

Free tier is generous on quotas, weak on quality. You get 15 photo swaps per day, 20 seconds of video face swap per day, 2 GIF swaps per day and 5 minutes per day of watermarked live swap on Mac. That is enough to evaluate the tool. The watermark is heavy enough that you will not ship anything from the free tier.
Credits do not expire on paid plans. I like that. It rewards heavy months and slow months equally.
Mac app is the obvious differentiator. I have not seen this from the other face swap tools I cover. If you stream or do calls, that alone is the reason to try it.
NSFW posture is quiet. VidMage does not lead with adult use cases on the home page. The face swap works on NSFW source and target media in my testing notes from other operators, but you are not their main audience.

The yearly is the obvious value pick if you plan to use this at all regularly. The pay as you go path is fine for occasional jobs or for testing with no commitment.

NSFW Use, What to Expect

A few honest notes for the NSFW use case:

The face swap models work on NSFW source and target media. The model itself does not refuse a nude target.
The site does not market itself to the adult niche the way dedicated tools do. The terms of service are the usual generic AI tool wording, so the practical advice is to not rely on the platform for content you cannot afford to lose access to.
Output quality on faces is the main strength. Body and skin work in the target image is unchanged, the swap is on the face only. If you need clothes replaced as well, that is a different tool: see Deepnude AI for that job.
For high frame rate video the credit cost adds up quickly. Plan for that if you are doing long clips.

How VidMage Compares to the Alternatives I Use

For face swap on still photos and short clips, I have been pointing people at Roop Unleashed when they want a local, free, open source option. The trade off is that you run it yourself, you need a GPU and you need to be comfortable with the install. VidMage replaces all of that with a credit card and a browser. Quality is in the same league once you go to the paid tier.

For face cloning into a fully generated character, the better tool is DeepMode. DeepMode trains on photos of a face and then generates new images of that face in new poses. VidMage does a swap onto an existing photo or video, it does not create new content from scratch with that face. Different job, different tool.

The legacy DeepSwap page on this site is mostly a redirect to DeepMode at this point. If you landed on this page after looking at DeepSwap, VidMage is the closer match for what DeepSwap used to do.
