Clonella came on my radar because they share the team behind DeepMode.

I wanted to see how they handle chat plus image plus video in one place.

I spent a session running real tests, so this is hands-on and not a paste of their marketing page.

What Clonella Actually Is

Three things in one product:

  1. A chatbot platform with 100+ ready-made AI companions you can talk to.
  2. A studio where you build your own AI girlfriend, either from scratch or by cloning someone from photos.
  3. An image and video generator that runs inside every chat.

Ask your companion for a photo, she sends one.

Ask for a video, she sends one.

The chat itself is free.

You only spend credits when you generate media or build a new soulmate.

Pricing, No Subscriptions

It is credit-based pay-as-you-go.

Card or crypto.

Credits never expire.

Chatting with a Pre-Made Companion

Ambriella in retro bunny costume, generated via Clonella Quick Style preset

I picked Ambriella, the “Flirty Secretary” trending character.

First test I ran was off-script.

I told her my boss yelled at me over a typo and asked her to actually listen before anything else.

She did.

The response stayed in character but did not jump straight to sex.

Two messages later she still remembered the typo I had been complaining about.

Persistent memory is real and not a marketing line.

When I generated an outfit photo, then asked for a different scene, she made a bridge comment referring back to the previous outfit.

Small detail, but it makes the conversation feel less like rolling dice each turn.

Generating Photos in Chat

Ambriella at a 1970s disco with a mirror ball, custom prompt result from Clonella

Two ways:

  1. Tap “Send me a photo” and pick from quick style presets like Retro bunny costume, Slutty Catwoman cosplay, Wet T-shirt, Fishnets, Dominatrix leather.
  2. Type a custom prompt right in the chat: “send me a pic of you at a 1970s disco with a mirror ball.” She generates from that.

Render time was around 60 to 70 seconds per image.

Character consistency held well.

My Ambriella tests came back with the same redhead in different outfits and scenes.

Custom prompts have a quirk worth knowing.

I asked for a gold sequin dress and got a black blazer over white shirt instead.

Scene elements like the mirror ball came through, but very specific outfit instructions get partially overridden by the model’s scene style.

Quick Style presets are more reliable when you want a specific look. See it in action on Clonella.

Fantasies Catalog

Tap the Fantasies button and you get a graded catalog of poses and scenes, all NSFW.

Around 30 options per character, split into Image (1 credit), Video (15 credits), and Animate (15 credits) tabs, with SFW and NSFW filters.

What I found interesting: the catalog is character-specific.

Ambriella’s catalog had Bath Fun, Wet Clothing, Wonder Woman cosplay, and harder stuff.

The custom soulmate I built later (Asian persona) had a different set including Black Dick variations and Underskirt View.

So the Fantasies you see depend on the character you are chatting with.

Build Your Own Soulmate (Soulmate Studio)

Min Vu, custom soulmate generated by Clonella Soulmate Studio (Create from Scratch, Asian Curvy Pink hair Latex outfit)

This is where Clonella separates itself from a pure chatbot app.

Two modes:

  • Create from Scratch (1 credit). A six-step wizard: Style, Details, Appearance, Body, Outfit, Persona. Anime or Realistic. Ethnicity, age, hair, eye color, body type, breast size, outfit, and a Persona step where you set Personality, Voice, Relationship, Occupation, Fetish, and Visibility.
  • Train from Photos (70 credits, takes 10 to 15 minutes). Upload 3 to 50 of your own reference photos and they train a model on them. This is the DeepMode-style cloning, but here she also has chat memory, voice, and image gen attached.

I built one from scratch as a test.

Total spent: 1 credit.

Got back a pink-haired Asian character named Min Vu, Curvy build, latex outfit, Submissive personality, Blindfolds as fetish.

The chat opened up and her quick-reply suggestions reflected the persona instantly (“So soft under latex”, “Blindfold tight”).

Min Vu in a gym, stretching after class, generated from custom prompt on Clonella

When I asked her for a gym photo, the face, hair, and ethnicity were preserved cleanly across the new scene.

The latex outfit got swapped for sports gear because gym scene won the prompt fight.

But identity stayed intact.

That kind of consistency is what makes the soulmate idea actually work day to day.

Video and Animation

This is where things get experimental.

5 second clips for 15 credits.

I generated a Shower Time clip for Min Vu and it came back in about 90 seconds with her face, hair, and choker preserved in a realistic shower scene.

Render time is not always 90 seconds though.

An earlier video for Ambriella sat in queue for around 6 minutes before delivering.

The promised time on screen says under a minute, real time depends on demand.

Worth knowing before you spend 15 credits.

Group Chats and Other Bits

There is a Group Chats mode where multiple companions talk at once in the same room, drama-room style.

Premium tier exists but I did not test it.

Discord community for support.

Affiliate program pays 40 percent (which is why my link above is what it is, full disclosure).

What Could Be Better

  • Video render time varies. You might get your clip in 90 seconds or wait a few minutes longer if the queue is full. Not a dealbreaker if you are not in a rush, and 15 credits is still cheaper than most pay-per-clip tools out there.
  • Custom prompts for images can be a bit loose with specific outfit instructions when they conflict with the scene. The upside: results still look polished and on-brand for the character, so for anyone new to AI image gen the model basically picks the safer interpretation for you. Quick Style presets give you precise control when you want a specific look.
  • The Fantasies catalog skews very hardcore. Only an issue if you wanted soft tease content. For everyone landing here looking for the explicit NSFW that the platform was built for, this is exactly the catalog you want, and the SFW filter is there if you need to dial it back.

Final Take

For 1 credit and a sign-up I got a custom AI girlfriend, working chat with memory, and an image of her in a gym scene.

For me that is a strong baseline.

The DeepMode bloodline shows in the cloning side.

But Clonella feels broader than DeepMode because chat, video, and group conversations are all built into the same product.

If you already use DeepMode for image work and have been wanting the chat side, this is the natural place to start.

Try Clonella here. The free signup gives you enough credits to test it without paying anything.
